NFL Draft is finally among us. With hours left before the draft is officially underway, here is my final mock draft.
#1 Cleveland Browns- Myles Garrett, Edge, Texas A&M
This is a pick that doesn’t need much explanation. He is the freak of the draft, and the Browns need help on defense. Take him.
#2 San Fransisco 49ers – Jamal Adams, S, LSU
My favorite player in this draft. He has all the intangibles, and he makes plays going 100 mph. He is the best player in this draft in my opinion. If the 49ers keep this pick, I can see them passing up on a QB and taking Adams.
#3 Chicago Bears- Johnathan Allen, DT/DE, Alabama
This may be a pick that surprises some people. I’ve seen Allen slip out of the top 10 in some other mocks, but I think he is the best d-lineman in this draft. Yes, even better than Garrett. Injury may scare some teams, but he’s repeatedly pleaded how healthy he is. Whenever the Bears were true contenders, they had a solid defense and Allen could be the start of that in Chicago.
#4 Jacksonville Jaguars- Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
The Jags don’t have many needs on paper. Getting a solid RB to help make Blake Bortles job easier would just make a lot of sense here. When healthy, Fournette showed his ability to make plays.
#5 Tennessee Titans- Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio St.
The Titans need help in their secondary. They also need help at WR but since they have another first round selection, I believe they will hold off on taking a WR with this pick. Marshon is clear cut the best CB in this draft so this pick should be pretty easy.
#6 NY Jets- Mitchell Trubisky, QB, UNC
The Jets need a QB desperately. DESPERATELY. If they pass up on taking a QB here, then they are already tanking for next season. The only decision here is if they lean towards Watson more.
#7 LA Chargers- Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama
The Chargers need to protect Philip Rivers and get someone to open up more holes for Melvin Gordon. Their two Tackles last season were awful. Only other player that should be in play would be Malik Hooker. Since the DB’s in this draft are so deep, I think they will decide to go with Robinson.
#8 Carolina Panthers- Solomon Thomas, Edge, Stanford
He is a great edge rusher. His get off is outstanding. The Panthers should address defense with this pick, and Thomas is the best player on the board here.
#9 Cincinnati Bengals- Derek Barnett, Edge, Tennesse
The Bengals need an edge rusher, and at 9 Barnett will be the best one available. Corey Davis could be in play here too, but I think Barnett is their guy.
#10 Buffalo Bills- Mike Williams, WR, Clemson
The Bills are no strangers to taking a Clemson WR in the first round (Sammy Watkins). They need a lot of things but if Williams falls to 10, they shouldn’t even think about passing on him. He would be the consistent playmaker that Tyrod Taylor has been waiting for.
#11 New Orleans Saints- Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio St.
There has been a lot of controversy surrounding Conley and his alleged rape accusation. From a football stand point, he is the 2nd best CB in this draft. He has been grinding to prove his innocence and hopefully teams see that. The Saints need help in the secondary, and Conley would be just that.
#12 Cleveland Browns- Malik Hooker, S, Ohio St.
If Hooker is still on the board at 12, the Browns would be getting a steal. Hooker is definitely a top-10 talent, but with injury it has sort of scared some teams off. He is a guy that can cover sideline to sideline and could come in and help that secondary instantly.
#13 Arizona Cardinals- Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan
It’s no secret that Larry Fitzgerald is getting up there in age. Corey Davis is arguably the best WR in the draft. Him coming from a small school may scare some teams, but there is not one route that this man can’t run.
#14 Philadelphia Eagles- Tre’Davious White, CB, LSU
The Eagles need help in the secondary. They also need help at WR even though they signed Alshon Jeffrey this offseason. White is the next best CB on the board. John Ross could also be in play here, but Philly should address the defense.
#15 Indianapolis Colts- Ryan Ramczyk, OG, Wisconsin
Andrew Luck has been injury riddled in his first few seasons as a pro. They signed him to a big extension recently. If they want to make sure he stays on the field, then they need to get some protection for him and Ramczyk will do that.
#16 Baltimore Ravens- Hassan Reddick, Edge, Temple
Baltimore has been missing that edge rusher lately. Elvis Dumervil recently moved on, and T-Sizzle hasn’t been able to stay healthy. Reddick would be the perfect fit for the Ravens.
#17 Washington Redskins- Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson
The Redskins need a QB for the future. Kirk Cousins does not want to be there. This is a situation where Watson might fall into the Redskins lap. If he’s not on the board here, I can see them trading back.
#18 Tennessee Titans- John Ross III, WR, Washington
The Titans get to fill their need yet again. Ross’s speed mixed with his excellent route running ability would be a great weapon for Marcus Mariota.
#19 Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Dalvin Cook, RB, FSU
Jameis Winston might be in the front office’s ear with this pick. Cook and Winston were teammates at FSU and won a national championship together. This reunion would make perfect sense since the Bucs need a RB, and Cook and Winston already have some chemistry.
#20 Denver Broncos- Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford
This has always been the Broncos guy. I wouldn’t even be surprised if they moved up for him. They have had him in on several visits and from what I’ve read, there is a lot of mutual interest.
#21 Detroit Lions- Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama
The Lions need a LB. Foster stock has been falling with all of this off the field issues, but he has the talent to be a top-10 pick. Jarrad Davis and Zach Cunningham might be in play, but Foster is the most talented of the 3. If Foster falls past here, he may be in for a long night.
#22 Miami Dolphins- O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama
Ryan Tannehill could always use another weapon. The Dolphins were a playoff team last and year and aren’t that far off from being a real contender. Howard would come in and be a big help in run blocking, but also provide many matchup problems for opposing teams LB’s.
#23 NY Giants- Malik McDowell, DT, Michigan State
The Giants let Johnathan Hankins walk in free agency. McDowell is a guy that can come in and fill his spot right away.
#24 Oakland Raiders- Tim Williams, Edge, Alabama
Williams is another talented player with off the field issues. The Raiders may be worried about bringing in another guy like this considering they have Aldon Smith. They may bring in Williams so that they can get rid of Smith altogether.
#25 Houston Texans- Patrick Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech
The Texans will take Mahomes and he will try to be the hometown hero. They need a QB, and from what I’ve read, they love Mahomes. The Titans may be in a situation where they try to trade up, but if they stay at 25 then Mahomes is their guy.
#26 Seattle Seahawks- Forest Lamp, OG/T, Western Kentucky
The Seahawks have lost a pair of linemen this offseason. They need to make sure they protect Russell Wilson. Lamp is a versatile lineman that can play either Guard or Tackle in my opinion so Seattle could find a way to plug him in immediately.
#27 Kansas City Chiefs- Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida
The Chiefs have Marcus Peters, but they do not have anyone spectacular on the opposite side of him. Wilson is a solid CB that can come in and compete for a starting spot from day 1.
#28 Dallas Cowboys- Jordan Willis, Edge, Kansas State
Willis is a guy that has grown on me lately. I think in the late first round his value could be highly coveted since there isn’t a high supply of elite pass rushers. Cowboys need some help on the edge and in the secondary, so Adoree Jackson might be in play here too, but the Cowboys will address the D-line.
#29 Green Bay Packers- Marlon Humphreys, CB, Alabama
The Packers need help in the secondary. That’s the only area that should be targeted with this 1st round pick. Humphreys is one of the best man to man corners in the draft and could help the Packers right away.
#30 Pittsburgh Steelers- Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan
The Steelers took a CB last year in the first round, but they need to address this position again. They were one game away from being in the Big Game, but they just didn’t have the guys to stop Tom Brady. Maybe they consider DeShone Kizer here, maybe they consider T.J. Watt, but Lewis should be the pick.
#31 Atlanta Falcons- Charles Harris, Edge, Missouri
You could argue that the Falcons lost the Super Bowl due to lack of depth on the D-Line. I know they signed Poe in this offseason, but one more edge rusher wouldn’t hurt.
#32 New Orleans Saints- Curtis Samuel, WR/RB, Ohio St.
The Saints lost their speedster Brandin Cooks this offseason in a trade with New England. Samuel could come in and be the perfect gadget for Sean Payton to use. The Saints cashed in on two Buckeyes last year, Michael Thomas and Vonn Bell, and I can see them doing so yet again with Conley at 11 and Samuel here.
